Cant print with 2nd xtruder
#1
Well I am not able to print with my second extruder. I have a Da vinci 2.0 duo with the J1 reset board. I have flashed my fw and upgraded to the Repiter Firmware, and that was not an easy task. The firmware would not take till i pulled the sd. Well since i got it installed i have calibrated the bed and made a couple prints with the default extruder which is T0. However due to a difference in height, my default extruder being about 1.5 mm higher then the second one (T1) I would really like to print with the second extruder so I wont have the first extruder smashing through my prints. I have thought about changing the height of the bed to accommodate, however that wont work cause again the second extruder is lower so it will always get in the way of the first's work. Now i realize i could shim to bring the first down to the elevation of the other. However given i have made it this far I decided to try to change it by specifying the second extruder via tool change in the gcode.so for default head line of code reads
M104 S235
M109 S235
well i edited to read
M104 T1 S235
M109 T1 S235
according to everything i have read that addition should do the trick. Here is the code in its entirety

Through my editing I have been able to heat the extruder and it is the second extruder it wishes to use, however I am not getting flow. I have tried different filament, as well as checking throu the flow commands in the gcode. Now i am not gcode expert but between google and what i do know of it from working with a laser I dont believe there to be an issue with the flow in the code. If I reedit the code to switch the tool back to the first extruder it prints with no proble, but again we have the issue of the second extruder's head being drug through the print either completely dislodging it , or making it look horrible. I would just like to have 2 functional print heads. If anyone can help I am open to ideas. Thank you very much in advance

I guess you use Slic3r as slicer which is not good to handle 2 extruders, cura is better for this

you need to add T1 to select second extruder for printing
M104 T1 S235
M109 T1 S235
T1

I have given my cura start /end GCODE to work with my 2.0 long time ago , with them no need to edit manually the gcode

Thank you for your input. I will try that, someone else has also recommended cura, and yes i am using slic3r. Knowing what I do about g code im wondering if i dont have to edit each line to from
G1 X74.468 Y60.178 E1.11752 F1080.000
to
G1 X74.468 Y60.178 T1 E1.11752 F1080.000 there by specifying which head is to be the one flowing
At this point its a matter of making it work because im obsessed.
going to download cura now and see how that works. Again thank you so much for your input. There is not a whole lot about the da vinci 2.0 modded out there when it comes to problems. Thank you

no need to add T1 on each line
just add once in single line

cura in repetier and cura in stand alone use different macro for start/end GCODE just FYI

that is my code for T0 and I have the bed leveled and it prints well. is there anyway you could guide me in where to insert the commands you have recommended.
I keep getting to the same results. I can get the 2nd extruder to preheat, even go through the motions, however there is no flow. There are flow values, but no flow. Im sorry to pester, however i am a complete loss any advice would be much appreiated. I read the forum link, and im still lost.

just do not put the T1 before G28 because G28 doing homing, T0 will be automaticaly selected
