XYZWare Open Mod
#1
It's been awhile and this version has been in beta for quite some time and still is. So please note there may be bugs in the software.

Version 1.02
Bug fixes for crashes on some systems.
If crashes occur and log shows  please look up errors on slic3r's support forum.

New Version v1.01
Several bug fixes, test run for duo.
If you have a da vinci duo, select your stl first, then click export and select duo as your printer.
External slic3r support for duo is currently being added.

What is in XYZWare Open Mod v1?

  • Import/Export GCode

  • Fix Gcode generated by Simplify3D and Cura

  • Completely removed Base64 Encoding

  • Removed Zip encryption

  • No XYZ printer headers required

  • Remove 3w exporting

  • Log Window View

  • Control Panel to control printer on the PC. (Ex: Home all axis, Preheat extruder/heatbed, manual control of all axis, etc)

  • Send G Code directly to printer

  • View/Edit G-Code in Tabbed View

  • Object Parameter Panel (scale, translate, copy, repair normals, etc

  • Ability to use external slic3r in XYZWare (slic3r panel)

  • Right mouse button moves camera instead of pan

  • Automatically adds length header for gcode made by slic3r, cura, simplify3d

  • Fixes estimated time for 3d party gcode

  • Reset Cartridge

  • Bunch of other fixes, additions, etc that I can't remember off the top of my head

  • Firmware 1.1.E will not lower filament counter (thanks Billy for reporting it works on this firmware version)
If you use repetier, then all these features will be familiar.

Configuriing XYZWare Open Mod for external slicer
As for setting up slic3r, you will need to click "Setup" and point the 2 paths correctly.

For configuration it is usually "C:\Users\%User%\Roaming\Slic3r" or something similar.
Then for the executable it should point to your executable.

you will know if it is setup correctly if it shows your slic3r options in the xyzware software. If it may not be setup correctly.

Enjoy   :cheer:

Thank you so much! What a great addition to the software.

Could you provide a quick guide to some of the features for the less experienced? How do we get the external slicer working? after pointing it to a Slic3r exe it just opens slicer and sits.

Also, is there a plugin we need to get "Reset Cartridge" working? As it says its missing from the file system.

Thanks again so much for the obvious hard work in putting this together.

Thank you so much. I have been using the 1.1.29.4 modified to load g-code and have had great results. I was looking forward to the day someone did this. I will give it a try tomorrow. I currently have a print going. :woohoo: :cheer:

@Tyler Collins: For using the panels check out the repetier host manual as that was what was ported into XYZWare and made compatible with XYZWare. As for the external slic3r, click on setup in the panel and define the folders as requested on the screen. That will import your settings into the panel. To modify your slic3r settings click on configuration and configure it as you would in slic3r. As for the reset cartridge, it is not released with this version as it has a bug that needs to get worked out.

@Robert, glad to hear the previous releases worked great for you and hopefully the newer version will be of some use. Wink

I've experienced the same results as well. Could there be a problem with compatibility with the executable?

I really hope that you're able to work out the bugs as this would definitely benefit many.

Make sure you are replacing the executable in the XYZware folder. It is not a standalone app. It will require the original xyzware software.

Tnx

W34, does it matter what version of XYZware you have installed that you put this executable into? Maybe that's what's up with the various compatibility issues. What version did you have prior?

BTW, none of the Manual control stuff on mine works. It says Disconnected. I haven't tried actually doing anything yet. The printer information does show up in the bottom, and the monitor works. EDIT: Jumped the gun, had to click Connect. Didn't see that.

Edit: Also, the Reset Cartridge thing says plugin not found or something. Is there some files I'm missing?

What else needs to be setup? In the printer information stuff, do I need to change anything?

It is disconnected by default. You have to click on the "Connect" button to open the connection to the printer.

This is based off of version 1.1.29.4

For connecting to the printer. Click on the "Connect" button in the manual control to connect to the printer.
As for the reset cartridge it is not included at the moment, it has an bad bug as I am using the DAVEEW command. Resetting the cartridge is fine, but changes the values of the temps to 250 for both ext/bed.. So I if someone else figures out the right value positions for DAVEEW that would complete the plugin.

DAVXXX commands can be sent through arduino IDE or through the VS arduino plugin.

Currently I do not have too much time as I have other projects, but will try to get to it when I have free time.

Configuration set up?

I have the XYZ open mod install pointed to my Slic3r 117.

Is there a default DaVinci 1.0 config set for Slic3r
to start using the open mod with the easy default DaVinci 1.0 slicer configuration?

I have all kinds of settings for 4 other printers.
It would be nice to have a DaVinci_1.0 config bundle to start with
on DaVinci 1.0 printer with XYZ open mod

Tnx

W34, for what it's worth I had some issues with my original XYZware install. Before you replied I uninstalled and installed the newest version. This executable still works directly replacing the original.

Can you post up what you are sending to it (cartridge resetter) so maybe we can try to assist?

I will post my configuration for slic3r and the command I am sending to the printer to reset the cartridge when I get back this weekend as I am out of town on a business trip.

*Note: my settings for slic3r is configured for bumat ABS filament, so each printer will vary.
